Stay on the Mountain at Chalet Quietude
Chalet Quietude is on a beautiful mountain at an altitude of 3400 ft. on 3 secluded acres. The view is ever-changing. During the early morning hours, you may catch some beautiful sights and will get a real sense of what the Smoky Mountains are all about. The chalet is at the end of the road, on a mountain ridge and the adjoining 400 acres is undeveloped which contributes to the privacy and quietude. Click on each photo to enlarge. Also, visit the photo album for many more photos.
Chalet Quietude is a cozy three bedroom cabin with 2 full baths. The enclosed loft has a king bed and a full bath (shower). We have two queen beds on the main floor. The full bath is also on the main floor. The chalet sleeps 6 comfortably. The king and 2 queen beds are luxurious European pillow-top mattresses and the bed sheets are not like anything you have ever slept on. So much so, that many guests have asked to purchase them – they are for sale (see “amenities for sale” page). We also provide great robes for you to wear while you are here.
The living room has a fireplace, very tastefully decorated and is open to the kitchen with just about every cooking amenity you need to complete a beautiful gourmet meal or something simple and yummy. The handy dining counter is also great to gather and have conversation while cooking.
Of course, we must mention the wonderful hot tub. It is positioned on its own deck and the ritual of getting ready for the hot tub is part of the fun. It is located away from the house so that you can sit in and enjoy nature. At night, gazing at the stars or the valley with the night lights is just about as good as it gets. You will know then, that “life is great”. Chalet Quietude is located 12 miles from downtown Asheville and a little more than 11 miles from the Biltmore. Grocery stores are near by and getting to and from the chalet is very easy.
3 NIGHT Minimum Stay – exception Premium Dates
See the photo gallery for a good idea of the layout and the furnishings. You are sure to love Chalet Quietude. The name came to me as I stood on the deck and realized just how quiet it was there. You, too, will notice that.

Perfectly-appointed beautifully furnished cabin with amazing views!
We love staying in Brea and David’s immaculate properties, and Chalet Quietude was no exception! We had the best Thanksgiving in this perfectly-appointed cabin. The cabin was spotlessly clean. The views are breathtaking. It is very quiet and private. The hot tub has an awesome view. There are DVDs and TV apps to utilize. It was perfect for family time!
Great weekend away/ amazing hosts
Me and a couple friends went away for a guys weekend, and shocker we messed up the dates. Showed up a day early and the owners showed up to do work on the house. They were so understanding and told us not to worry, had a good chuckle and let us stay. The Mountain View’s were amazing at all points of the day and we were completely secluded. Look up asheville cabs on google if no lifts/ubers are available to take you into town. Ubers and lyfts will take you back to the house from downtown. We had such an amazing weekend and couldn’t recommend a place enough. If you want some privacy with amazing views and a beautiful house, this is it by 1,000
Could not ask for anything more
This cabin is picturesque. Every photo you take, it’s just the cabin and the woods. Despite driving past several neighbors to get to the location – you can’t see, or hear, a single one. We stayed for 3 nights, but wish we had more. The house was clean and well organized for guest use. 5 of us stayed comfortably. Getting out from the cabin to the main street took about 5 mins or so. Once out, all of the tourist attractions in Asheville were easy and to get to. In fact, the cabin seemed centrally located to everything we did.
I recommend anyone staying there, wake up about 45min to 1hr before sunrise. Brew some coffee, bundle up on the porch, and watch the clouds ebb and flow while the surrounding mountains and foliage reveal themselves.
We were fortunate (?) to see a morning bear only once. He was in the distance, but it was amazing. Brea mentioned in her instruction book that the bears will rustle the bushes and trees. Rustle they did – there was NO mistake!
Downsides? Nothing really. Getting out of the driveway was challenging for the first couple of times, but then it was simple. I’m not sure how multiple cars would work, so ask brea for advice on that.
And take advantage of the hot tub! Great view and fireflies at night. Nothing beats it.
